What happened: The NBA's official account posted a birthday tribute to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on July 12, calling him a source of memorable quotes. The post did not include a specific quote or additional detail.

Why it matters: The tribute lands as Gilgeous-Alexander enters the offseason coming off a year in which he averaged 30-plus points per game on 55-plus percent shooting, the only guard in NBA history to do so, and earned NBA All-Star and All-NBA recognition for a second consecutive season.

What to watch: Attention turns to the Thunder's offseason roster moves as the team looks to build around Gilgeous-Alexander heading into 2026-27.
