What happened: Nneka Ogwumike scored her 8,000th career point during Sunday's broadcast on USA Network. She is just the fourth player in the history of the WNBA to reach the milestone.

Why it matters: The achievement adds to a resume that places her among the most prolific offensive players the league has ever seen. The scoring mark was reached during the final stretch of the 2026 postseason push.

By the numbers: Ogwumike passed Tina Charles for 10th in WNBA games played earlier in the year. She also became the third player in league history to join the 3,000-career-field-goal club in July.

What to watch: Ogwumike will look to add to her historic scoring total as the playoffs approach.
