What happened: Denver has no game Oct. 21 ahead of the 2026-27 opener. The offseason break ends with the return to regular-season play.

Why it matters: The opener fixes the early rotation with a guard sidelined to start the season. It also opens the chase toward triple-double milestones entering the year.

By the numbers: Denver closed preseason 133-128 with Nikola Jokic at 22-11-10. Jokic enters two shy of 200 triple-doubles and 12 shy of the all-time mark. Julian Strawther faces re-evaluation in six weeks with a knee sprain.

What to watch: Denver opens the 2026-27 season Oct. 22. The first injury report will clarify available guards.
