What happened: The Denver Nuggets hold a halftime lead over the Los Angeles Lakers in Friday's preseason matchup on ESPN. Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic have each scored 15 first-half points, with Doncic converting an and-1 layup and a deep three-pointer from the logo before the break.

Why it matters: Both Western Conference clubs are getting final preseason tune-ups following Denver's earlier preseason meeting with the Bulls. With the 2026-27 regular season tipping off in four days, starters are logging extended first-half reps ahead of Monday's roster cutdown.

What to watch: Second-half preseason rotations will determine the final outcome before both clubs finalize their regular-season rosters ahead of Opening Week.
