What happened: Orel Hershiser, holder of MLB's record for consecutive scoreless innings, publicly praised Cristopher Sanchez's ongoing scoreless-innings streak, per a post from Bob Nightengale. The endorsement comes after Sanchez was named NL Pitcher of the Month on the strength of a dominant run.

Why it matters: Hershiser's nod carries weight because his 59 consecutive scoreless innings (1988) remain the standard Sanchez is now being measured against. The praise underscores how Sanchez's scoreless streak has pushed him into historic territory and anchored Philadelphia's rotation.

What to watch: Watch Sanchez's next start to see how far the streak extends and whether it stays on pace toward Hershiser's mark.
