What happened: Orlando City captain Robin Jansson announced he will retire from professional soccer following the 2026 season. The central defender concludes his career as the franchise's all-time leader in both appearances and starts.

Why it matters: Jansson served as the defensive anchor and on-field leader throughout Orlando City's most competitive MLS era. His impending departure marks the end of an era for the backline and creates a critical leadership void entering the offseason.

What to watch: Orlando City continues its 2026 MLS postseason run before shifting focus to backline succession planning.
