What happened: Dan Orlovsky said San Francisco runs "one of-if not-the most rare offense in the NFL right now" as the 49ers prepare to face Denver. The remark put the structure of the 49ers' scheme at the center of the matchup.

Why it matters: San Francisco opened 3-0, so the comment adds to the spotlight on a team already drawing early contender attention. For Denver, the next test comes against an offense being framed as unusual even by NFL standards.

By the numbers: San Francisco entered the week 3-0. Jed York is serving a six-game suspension, and the NFL said his first three missed games already count toward the ban, allowing a return on Oct. 20.

What to watch: The next read comes when Denver sees the offense on the field. San Francisco's next outing will show whether that schematic edge keeps translating into wins.
