What happened: Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have finalized a reworked contract worth a record-breaking $504.75 million. This historic move adds two years to the current deal, tying Patrick Mahomes to Kansas City through the 2033 season.

Why it matters: The agreement resets the quarterback market with a record $64 million annual average value starting in 2027. By committing to Mahomes as he rehabs from a late-2025 knee injury, the Chiefs solidify their championship window and ensure the face of the league remains in Kansas City for his entire career.

What to watch: Mahomes will continue his rehabilitation program as the Chiefs prepare for training camp and their 2026 title defense.
