What happened: Kendrick Perkins said Denver is not doing enough to maximize the talent around Nikola Jokic. Nikola Jokic posted 22 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists as Denver closed with a 133-128 win over Chicago.

Why it matters: The argument puts roster construction around a prime center at the center of Denver's season. How Denver handles that window will define its 2026-27 campaign.

By the numbers: Final: Denver Nuggets 133, Chicago Bulls 128. Nikola Jokic: 22 PTS, 11 REB, 10 AST. Aaron Gordon: 25 PTS, 6 REB. Leonard Miller: 26 PTS, 7 REB, 2 AST, game high.

What to watch: Denver heads into the 2026-27 season with its supporting rotation under scrutiny.
