What happened: Michele Timms, who also assessed the Sydney Flames' 2-0 start earlier this week, singled out Perth's opening-round victory over the Townsville Fire ahead of Saturday's game. The Round 2 contest tips off at 7 p.m. AEDT on 9Now and ESPN via Disney+.

Why it matters: The nine-club WNBL27 campaign is advancing through its second round following September's pre-season tip-off event in Far North Queensland. Elsewhere on the Round 2 slate, Geelong claimed its first win of the season against Southside Melbourne before a sold-out home crowd, while the Sydney Flames moved to 3-0 by defeating the UC Capitals.

What to watch: Saturday's result will determine whether Perth stays unbeaten alongside Sydney in the early WNBL27 standings.
