What happened: Jake LaRavia wanted to play Friday, but JJ Redick said a visit to the treatment room after shootaround showed he was not ready. The Lakers list him out with a right ankle sprain.

Why it matters: The ankle injury that forced LaRavia from the opener will now cost him a game against the Clippers. Los Angeles faces another availability decision before Sunday's game.

By the numbers: Both teams entered Friday 1-0. The Lakers won their opener 127-105; the Clippers won theirs 121-96.

What to watch: If LaRavia cannot return Sunday at Utah, Redick said Tuesday against Portland is the next possibility.
