What happened: Powell spent part of the week with Dallas at Kyrie Irving-led minicamp in Los Angeles. League sources expect the veteran big man to receive a formal training camp invitation as the Mavericks assemble their preseason group for 2026-27.

Why it matters: The move would keep a pathway open for Powell even with Dallas already carrying 15 standard NBA contracts. It also extends Powell's unsigned stretch around the Mavericks into the final lead-up to camp.

What to watch: Watch for Dallas to formalize its camp invites as training camp gets closer. Any related roster move would show how the Mavericks plan to manage the back end of a full standard roster.
