What happened: The opening schedule pairs Prescott with the two opponents against whom he has thrown the most touchdown passes. The franchise mark has stood since the 2016 season.

Why it matters: Five touchdown passes would pull Prescott level with the record; six would put him alone on top. The chase adds an early milestone to his Super Bowl-or-bust standard for Dallas.

By the numbers: Prescott enters 2026 with 243 regular-season touchdown passes, behind the Cowboys record of 248. He has thrown 32 against the Commanders and 31 against the Giants.

What to watch: His first chance comes in the opener against New York. Any remaining gap carries into the Week 2 matchup with Washington.
