What happened: MLB Trade Rumors projected raises for 11 Detroit players eligible for 2027 arbitration, giving the Tigers an early look at their winter payroll decisions. The largest projected jumps belong to Riley Greene at $9.3 million, Spencer Torkelson at $7.7 million and Zach Mckinstry at $5.0 million.

Why it matters: Those 11 cases amount to roughly $13.1 million in projected salary growth, a useful first pass at how much space Detroit must reserve for tenders, extensions and any outside additions. The Tigers also moved well below the luxury-tax line after shedding Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize salary, and several larger contracts are due off the books after 2026.

By the numbers: MLBTR's 11 arbitration cases total about $28.9 million in 2026 salary and roughly $42.0 million in projected 2027 salary. Other notable estimates include Matt Vierling from $3.255 million to $3.7 million, Kerry Carpenter from $3.275 million to $4.1 million, Reese Olson from $818,100 to $1.5 million and Parker Meadows from $805,300 to $1.0 million.

What to watch: The next pressure points are Detroit's non-tender decisions, any extension talks around Greene and how aggressively the front office uses its payroll flexibility once the offseason opens. Final service-time rulings and the Super Two cutoff could still shift a few of these cases before numbers lock in.
