What happened: Radek Faksa sustained a lower-body injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest. The forward needed assistance leaving the ice after being struck on the inside of the knee by an Erik Karlsson one-timer.

Why it matters: The departure removes a reliable defensive center from the lineup for Dallas against Pittsburgh. His absence alters the penalty kill rotation and forces the bottom six to absorb additional minutes.

What to watch: Medical staff will evaluate the knee to determine if he will miss additional regular-season games.
