Blink and you'll miss it 👀☄️ The Rangers go up early over the Islanders on ESPN and the ESPN App 🔥 https://t.co/2rinZBS Via @espn on X

What happened: The Rangers opened the scoring in the New York meeting with the Islanders. The 1-0 edge came in the early going of the ESPN national window.

Why it matters: An opening goal puts the road side into chase mode in a rivalry matchup. Early separation also sets the special-teams and matchup decisions for the middle period.

What to watch: Watch whether the Islanders tie it before the first intermission and how the Rangers manage the lead.
