What happened: Toronto and Jamal Shead have agreed to a contract extension, according to NBA.com. The move follows the Raptors' Oct. 1 signing of the guard.

Why it matters: The agreement gives Toronto added backcourt certainty heading into the 2026-27 season. It also turns a fresh roster addition into a longer-term commitment before preseason play begins.

What to watch: Watch for the Raptors to formalize the agreement and for how Shead slots into the club's preseason guard mix.
