What happened: Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash confirmed INF/OF Ryan Vilade has earned an Opening Day roster spot. The team optioned RHP Joe Boyle and INF Osleivis Palacios as they trim the spring roster. These moves position the Rays closer to finalizing their 26-man squad.

Why it matters: Vilade's inclusion adds bench versatility and power upside from a strong minor-league background, potentially boosting Rays' lineup depth in the AL East. Boyle's demotion highlights persistent command issues despite his potent sweeper, affecting rotation projections. Fans should watch for impacts on early-season and team futures.

What to watch: Await Rays' final preseason cuts and Opening Day lineup announcement in the days ahead.
