Red Sox expected to shop Jarren Duran this winter

He hit .207 in 2026.

What happened: MassLive's Sean McAdam expects Boston to tender the arbitration-eligible outfielder a contract for 2027. That would preserve the club's ability to trade him during the offseason.

Why it matters: Boston weighed moving Duran before the 2026 deadline; his weaker season could affect the return. Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu won Fielding Bible Awards in the outfield, giving the club established defenders as it considers its roster.

By the numbers: Duran hit 20 home runs and stole 21 bases in 2026, but finished with a .627 OPS, according to MLB Statcast.

What to watch: Boston's tender decision comes before any winter trade talks can determine where Duran plays in 2027.
