Red Wings land 6-foot-8 Sutter Muzzatti from Nashville

He posted 32 points in 37 games at Notre Dame.

What happened: Detroit sent future considerations for the 23-year-old forward's signing rights. Muzzatti then signed a two-year entry-level contract.

Why it matters: The move adds a development option rather than resolving Detroit's search for established scoring help. The two-year term gives the organization time to evaluate his transition from college hockey.

By the numbers: Muzzatti recorded 13 goals and 32 points in 37 games for Notre Dame in 2025-26. Nashville selected him in the fifth round, No. 143 overall, in the 2023 NHL Draft.

What to watch: Training camp will determine whether Muzzatti competes for an NHL roster spot or begins in the minors.
