What happened: Per Darren Dreger on TSN's Early Trading, Detroit seeks a multi-piece return built around high-end prospects plus an NHL-ready forward and draft capital for captain Dylan Larkin. Larkin remains in Detroit's lineup while preferring a trade, with Tampa Bay and Washington positioned as fits on prospect depth.

Why it matters: Detroit's shift toward futures over an immediate top-line forward widens the field toward prospect-rich contenders. Tampa Bay can pair Sam O'Reilly with Gage Goncalves, while Washington offers Ilya Protas, Cole Hutson and Lynden Lakovic alongside Aliaksei Protas and Pierre-Luc Dubois.

What to watch: Detroit's resolve on prospect quality and Larkin's no-move stance will decide if talks advance.
