What happened: Troy Renck said he would give Bo Nix a new contract if a decision were required now. He said the remainder of the season will help inform the decision.

Why it matters: The comment centers Nix's contract case on his play down the stretch rather than a present verdict. That leaves Denver's quarterback commitment tied to how the rest of the season unfolds.

What to watch: Watch Nix's outings through the rest of the season as the basis for that contract evaluation.
