What happened: Robert Lewandowski is traveling to the United States alongside agent Pini Zahavi to discuss a potential move to the Chicago Fire. The MLS club is pushing to finalize a deal, with contract offers reportedly spanning two to three years depending on the player's preference.

Why it matters: The potential move follows Lewandowski's departure from FC Barcelona, where he scored 19 goals during the 2025-26 La Liga-winning campaign. Joining Chicago would bolster a squad currently sitting 3rd in the Eastern Conference and seeking veteran leadership for a deep playoff run.

By the numbers: Lewandowski (2025-26): 19 goals, 2 assists in 46 apps. Chicago Fire (2026): 26 points, 8-2-4 record, 27 goals scored, 3rd in Eastern Conference.

What to watch: Watch for a formal announcement if contract terms are agreed upon during the player's visit to the U.S.
