What happened: Yahoo Sports floated VanVleet as the outgoing guard in a hypothetical move bringing a $118M title winner to Houston. The plan entering camp had banked on VanVleet's return for a second season alongside Durant.

Why it matters: Udoka has described VanVleet as a prototypical point guard who takes what the defense gives him, raising the backcourt cost of any swap. That fit has been framed as the VanVleet-Durant playoff fix in Houston.
