What happened: Ken Rosenthal reports the Chicago Cubs are considering a trade involving outfielder Seiya Suzuki as the team evaluates its roster during a 27-39 start. The league notebook also highlights the Chicago White Sox's surprising hold on first place and notes that the Kansas City Royals are unlikely to move pitchers Michael Wacha or Seth Lugo despite interest from contenders.

Why it matters: Trading Seiya Suzuki would mark a significant pivot for the Cubs as they fall behind their crosstown rivals in the standings. Meanwhile, the Royals' decision to keep their veteran starters suggests a focus on rotation stability even as they trail the Texas Rangers 4-1 in their season series.

What to watch: The Cubs' front office will be monitored for potential moves as the trade deadline nears. The Royals and Rangers continue their series tonight with Texas looking to build on their 4-1 season advantage.
