What happened: Former quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick criticized Bo Nix during remarks aired on Thursday Night Football. Fitzpatrick said Nix is not playing competitively and described the play as almost disrespectful to the quarterback position.

Why it matters: Nix started all 17 games for Denver in 2025, making him the Broncos' established starter entering 2026. Public criticism from a 17-year veteran quarterback increases scrutiny on his consistency and decision-making.

By the numbers: Nix completed 388 of 612 passes for 3,931 yards with 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions across 17 games in 2025. Denver drafted Nix 12th overall in 2024 out of Oregon.

What to watch: His next starts will show whether he answers the criticism with improved play.
