What happened: In comments published by EuroBasket, Sabonis said the offseason chatter was "all made up" and paired that denial with regret over how he handled his injury. The remarks arrived as Sacramento opened preparations for the 2026-27 season.

Why it matters: The comments answer weeks of noise around Sabonis' future in Sacramento after September reporting said he wanted out. They also put his health management back on the preseason agenda as the Kings sort rotations and availability before exhibitions begin.

What to watch: What follows is whether Sabonis is a full participant as camp turns to preseason games and whether the trade chatter cools once Sacramento gets on the floor.
