What happened: Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo said Bresee injured his knee at camp and is undergoing tests. The initial assessment makes it likely the former first-round pick will miss the 2026 season.

Why it matters: A season-long absence would remove a starting lineman from the middle of New Orleans' defense before the preseason. The Saints exercised Bresee's fifth-year option in April.

By the numbers: Bresee started 15 games in 2025, recording 37 tackles, 2.5 sacks, five tackles for loss, three pass breakups and one forced fumble. He has 14.5 sacks in 49 career games.

What to watch: Test results will determine the diagnosis. New Orleans' response along the defensive line is the next roster question.
