What happened: Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported the decision after New Orleans waived Hunter Dekkers on Saturday. Tyler Shough, Zach Wilson and Spencer Rattler are the three quarterbacks left on the roster.

Why it matters: Rattler started the first eight games last season before Shough replaced him. Carrying Rattler alongside Wilson would require three quarterback spots on the 53-man roster.

By the numbers: Rattler has 2,903 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions across two seasons. He completed 30 of 44 passes for 262 yards and one interception in three preseason games, adding 30 rushing yards and a touchdown on seven carries.

What to watch: The next decision is whether Rattler or Wilson dresses as Shough's backup in Week 1.
