What happened: Sam Fuld was offered the Athletics' top front office position but has opted not to take the job. He has officially withdrawn his name from consideration.

Why it matters: Fuld will remain in Philadelphia, continuing a pattern of passing on outside opportunities after previously turning down interview requests from the Red Sox and Mets. The Athletics must now pivot to alternative candidates to lead their baseball operations department.

What to watch: The Athletics will continue their search for a new front office leader.
