What happened: Collin Sexton will not play against Golden State on opening night, delaying his Los Angeles Lakers debut because of a lower right leg issue. Quentin Grimes started the first four preseason games. Matisse Thybulle started the finale Friday with Grimes shifting to a reserve role.

Why it matters: Sexton's absence delays his first regular-season action since joining Los Angeles this summer.

What to watch: His next update will shape whether Thybulle keeps the starting spot or Grimes returns to it.
