What happened: Charania said the unresolved extensions for Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart loom over New York. The sides remain apart, with deadline timing adding pressure.

Why it matters: Extensions would settle New York's core before midseason roster decisions. Continued distance keeps both names in deadline conversation.

What to watch: Watch whether talks move before the trade deadline.
