What happened: The score capped Saturday's opening possession in Sanders' preseason start. The game aired nationally on NFL Network.

Why it matters: The start gave Sanders a live-game audition in an unsettled quarterback competition. His scheduled first-half workload provides evaluators a larger sample than a brief reserve appearance.

By the numbers: Sanders entered Saturday after completing 6 of 11 passes (54.5%) for 79 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in the preseason opener.

What to watch: Watch whether Sanders sustains the early timing through the remainder of his first-half workload.
