What happened: The former UFC light heavyweight champions will headline Spaten Fight Night 3 in a heavyweight boxing match. Rua also addressed Andre Dida's exclusion from his corner.

Why it matters: The pairing was discussed in 2012 but never happened in MMA, giving the contest 14 years of backstory. It creates a first professional meeting after parallel runs at 205 pounds.

By the numbers: Rua and Teixeira have 38 combined MMA knockout wins. Their boxing match is capped at 242 pounds and scheduled for eight two-minute rounds.

What to watch: Rua and Teixeira are scheduled to meet Aug. 29 in São Paulo. Rua's post-fight plans will determine whether the bout becomes his final appearance.
