What happened: Sidney Crosby enters his 22nd NHL season as the 2026-27 campaign gets underway. The focus is role, durability and production across the full schedule.

Why it matters: Crosby reaching a 22nd season puts availability and matchup deployment at center of the season outlook. Early form will shape minutes, responsibilities and the pace of any milestone chase.

What to watch: Watch opening-week usage and even-strength minutes for the first read on workload. Continued availability will set the direction from there.
