Shevchenko vacated belt Sept. 8 with ligament injuries

What happened: Silva edged Wang Cong by decision after five rounds Saturday in Salt Lake City at UFC 332. The 125-pound belt stood vacant after Shevchenko vacated with ligament injuries on Sept. 8.

Why it matters: Silva stays undefeated in the UFC and extends her win streak into her first reign at 21-5-1. Shevchenko did not lose her second title in the cage and holds the division's title records, leaving undisputed status unsettled. Silva says she wants an active reign rather than waiting for Shevchenko's return.

By the numbers: Silva 21-5-1 after 5-round decision (R5 5:00) for vacant 125-pound title. UFC 332 closed with 8 of 10 listed bouts ending by R1 KO/TKO.

What to watch: Watch whether Silva books a first defense before Shevchenko's return timeline clears. A Harrison-Nunes winner could reshape the queue across 125-135 pounds.
