What happened: On The Bill Simmons Podcast, Bill Simmons said Lamar Jackson's availability has been difficult to predict from week to week. Tom Pelissero said Jackson took scout-team reps Thursday and first-team reps Friday, but did not play after a decision by Saturday.

Why it matters: Pelissero said the practice sequence left Tyler Huntley with less preparation because the Baltimore Ravens expected Jackson to play. He said Jackson wants to be fully healthy before taking the field.

By the numbers: Pelissero said Jackson will make $52 million this year and another $52 million next year.

What to watch: Baltimore's game-status decision will settle Jackson's availability against the Buffalo Bills. Pelissero said his contract could become a larger question after the season if an extension remains unresolved.
