Kyle Shanahan thought it would be a physical game — and called for a special teams turnover last night. Siran Neal came Via @VicTafur on X

What happened: Kyle Shanahan explicitly expected a physical contest and asked the unit to force a change of possession. Siran Neal met that exact challenge by creating a turnover.

Why it matters: Execution on special teams validates the coaching staff's messaging and shifts momentum without relying on the defense. Setting a physical tone early establishes the necessary intensity for tightly contested matchups.

By the numbers: Per ESPN, Neal made 17 tackles in 17 games during the 2025 season.

What to watch: The coaching staff will look for continued disruptive play from the special teams unit.
