Have we seen the last of Tarik Skubal in a Tigers uniform? 🤔 https://t.co/bcHpyT5q72 Via @SportsCenter on X

What happened: Detroit continues to weigh whether to move Tarik Skubal, who is in his final year of club control. He reached 1,000 career strikeouts Wednesday.

Why it matters: The Tigers entered the week 50-56 and 3.5 games from a wild-card spot. A trade would prioritize a long-term return over keeping the rotation intact for the playoff chase.

By the numbers: Skubal entered Wednesday 7-5 with a 2.70 ERA across 90 innings. Five days earlier, he struck out 12 over 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball.

What to watch: Detroit opens a weekend road series Friday as trade talks continue.
