Skubal returns to Detroit Friday for first start against Tigers

He struck out 11 over seven innings in his last start

What happened: The Dodgers acquired Tarik Skubal on Aug. 1, ending his run with the organization that drafted him in 2018. The left-hander will open a three-game series at Comerica Park at 6:40 p.m. ET.

Why it matters: The matchup puts a two-time defending AL Cy Young winner opposite the club he helped reach the ALDS in 2024 and 2025. Los Angeles is chasing a third consecutive World Series title.

By the numbers: Through four Dodgers starts, Skubal has a 3.38 ERA with 30 strikeouts and seven walks in 24 innings—11.3 strikeouts per nine innings and a 4.3 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

What to watch: Detroit will test whether Skubal has corrected the early trouble that produced three runs and five hits over his first two innings against Pittsburgh.
