What happened: The Los Angeles Sparks dismissed general manager Raegan Pebley shortly after she made aggressive trade calls across the WNBA. The executive shakeup lands while Los Angeles sits at 11-11 following two straight victories, contrasting with a surging Dallas squad that pushed its unbeaten streak to five contests.

Why it matters: The dismissal signals an abrupt shift in trade strategy for Los Angeles prior to the August deadline, halting any pending roster moves initiated by Pebley. Operating without a permanent general manager could freeze potential player acquisitions while the Sparks attempt to stay above .500. Meanwhile, Dallas's surge tightens the race for playoff seeding across the league's middle tier.

What to watch: Watch for Los Angeles to name interim front office leadership and clarify its trade posture ahead of the August deadline. On the court, both clubs aim to extend their winning streaks as the regular schedule progresses toward the postseason.
