What happened: The San Antonio Spurs acquired the No. 26 overall pick from the Denver Nuggets and used it to select Tarris Reed Jr. in the 2026 NBA Draft. In exchange, Denver received the No. 35 overall pick and two future second-round picks.

Why it matters: The deal lets San Antonio move up nine spots into the late first round to secure a target rather than wait into the second round. Denver, opting to slide back, banks additional second-round capital it can use as future trade currency or to fill out the roster on cheaper deals.

What to watch: Watch where Reed Jr. fits into San Antonio's frontcourt rotation heading into the 2026-27 season, and how Denver deploys the added second-round selections through the rest of the draft.
