What happened: Seattle drew the most under-appreciated tag for the early 2026 stretch. Stanback asked if people had forgotten the identity of the Super Bowl champions.

Why it matters: Reigning champions set the baseline for contender debate each fall. Seattle opening its LX defense outside that conversation shapes how its early form gets judged.

What to watch: The next stretch will determine whether that appraisal changes.
