What happened: Several teams have called Pittsburgh about Alex Highsmith, Tom Pelissero reports. Other clubs have asked about the 29-year-old edge rusher since last year, and the Steelers' answer has been no each time.

Why it matters: Pittsburgh has a logjam at edge rusher: T.J. Watt, 32, is playing at a high level, and Nick Herbig, who signed a $100 million extension in the offseason, is positioned to start in 2027. Highsmith is in the final year of his deal in 2027 with no guaranteed money remaining, which makes him a likelier trade candidate next offseason than now.

By the numbers: 102 overall), had 50 tackles and 9.5 sacks in 13 games in 2025. Pittsburgh is 5-2 and has won three straight.

What to watch: More calls are expected before the Nov. 10 trade deadline. With Pittsburgh in the middle of a run with Aaron Rodgers, an in-season deal looks unlikely, and March is the more realistic window.
