What happened: Atlanta held its starters out after two joint practices earlier in the week. Strand added an 18-yard touchdown scramble on a four-play drive to open the third quarter.

Why it matters: The efficient outing strengthens the Falcons' evaluation of their reserve quarterback options ahead of the regular season. It followed a 27-7 preseason-opening loss in which Atlanta produced 192 total yards.

By the numbers: Rush and Strand combined for 137 passing yards, one touchdown and no interceptions while completing 93.3% of their first-half attempts. Strand went 6-for-12 for 50 yards in the preseason opener.

What to watch: Atlanta's final preseason game will provide the next test for the quarterback rotation before roster cuts.
