What happened: Koa Peat is joining the Phoenix Suns after being selected with the 30th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The move brings the Chandler-area forward to his hometown NBA team ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Why it matters: Phoenix adds a young frontcourt piece with local ties and first-round contract control. Peat gives the Suns another developmental option as they reshape the roster around younger size and athleticism.

By the numbers: Peat averaged 14.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists as a freshman, while shooting 53% from the field and 35% from three.

What to watch: The next step is Phoenix finalizing its draft-night paperwork and setting Peat's summer-league plan. His early role will depend on how the Suns fill out the frontcourt before training camp.
