What happened: The Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury will partner with the YMCA to develop a state-of-the-art facility in downtown Phoenix. The site is planned as a hub for youth basketball, health, wellness and education programs.

Why it matters: The joint project ties the NBA and WNBA franchises to a shared community anchor beyond game nights. A downtown youth hub gives both organizations a permanent base for clinics, wellness work and education initiatives.

What to watch: Design details, a construction timeline and an opening date are the next milestones to emerge.
