What happened: Yohei Takaoka and Mathías Laborda earned the October Save of the Month award for a combined defensive stand. The sequence featured a double goal-line clearance to deny back-to-back scoring chances. The monthly honor recognized their coordinated effort to keep the ball out of the net.

Why it matters: The stop highlights the defensive chemistry anchoring the back line during high-stakes autumn competition. Takaoka previously claimed the club's MLS-era shutout record, reflecting sustained reliability in goal. Maintaining that level of shot prevention is critical for navigating single-elimination postseason pressure.

What to watch: Both players continue postseason competition as knockout play continues in the 2026 MLS Cup playoffs. Defensive stability remains the focal point heading into the next round.
