Thunder lose rookie Otega Oweh for season to Achilles injury

Fourth lost rookie debut in five years for Oklahoma City

Wire Report IntelligenceUpdated 1h1 min read

This is the fourth season out of five where a Thunder rookie has been ruled out for the year before debuting 2022: Chet Via @LawMurrayTheNU on X

What happened: Otega Oweh was ruled out for the year with an Achilles injury before making his Thunder debut. The loss follows Chet Holmgren in 2022 with a Lisfranc injury, Nikola Topic in 2024 with an ACL injury and Thomas Sorber in 2025 with an ACL injury.

Why it matters: The pattern removes another developmental season from Oklahoma City's rookie pipeline. The Thunder remain scheduled to face Houston with evaluation and rotation plans again altered.

What to watch: Watch for Oklahoma City to set its active rotation ahead of tipoff against Houston.
