What happened: Thybulle said camp possessions against the Lakers' lead creators demand constant work and leave less room to coast than most game reps. Earlier in camp, Reaves said the team's wings "annoy the hell out of me" with the way they defend in practice.

Why it matters: If that tone carries into preseason, Los Angeles could lean even harder on wing defense while sorting lineups around Reaves and Doncic. That matters for Thybulle, who joined the Lakers on a one-year contract and is competing for a regular rotation spot before the roster is cut to 15 on Oct. 20.

What to watch: The next read comes when preseason rotations start to settle and the Lakers show how much defensive length they can keep on the floor around their primary ballhandlers. Camp competition remains a focus as roster decisions approach later this month.
